Gifted and Talented Program
Hallettsville ISD is committed to an educational program that recognizes the special needs and talents of the individual student. HISD provides appropriate educational services for identified gifted and talented students as part of its overall K-12 program.
The gifted program takes a multidisciplinary approach at the elementary level. Students are provided services through differentiation in the classroom. Gifted and Talented students in 3rd and 4th grade participate in the Learning Enrichment Accelerated Program (LEAP).
Gifted and Talented Referrals
Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment.
Hallettsville Elementary School will accept referrals for gifted and talented services as listed in the HISD GT Handbook. Referral forms can be obtained online by downloading the attachment below. Please return completed referral forms to the HES office.
Assessments will be conducted in the spring. Evaluation of student data and selection of services occur in May. Parents will be notified by mail of the final determination of services. Students who require services will receive them beginning in the Fall of 2017.
